I have used this glue for the last 3 years and it works perfectly. It melts the PLA and make a very stong connection. I have build large objects (1/6 scale tanks) with this glue without any problems.

That is interesting! thanks for posting! I have generally used CA-glue, and although it sticks very well it creates a very hard joint that can crack if overloaded. I've also experimented a bit with friction stir welding, that can work although it's obviously hard to make a deep joint and also hard to make the joint flush.
